About the Special lssue

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most fatal malignancies and leading cause of cancer-related deaths due to late diagnosis, poor survival rates, and high incidence. The diagnosis at the early stages of pancreatic cancer as well as predicting prognosis precisely in the context of biomarker discovery is a great challenge. We are in urgent need of molecular biomarkers for early detection but also to tailor therapy options in order to improve prognosis of pancreatic cancer patients. One promising area in this direction is innovations in high-throughput techniques that have enabled the discovery of specific biomarkers of cancers using genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, glycomics, and metagenomics. Altogether, combination of CA-19 and novel biomarkers would represent an ideal strategy for diagnosis and prognosis of pancreatic cancer.

This special issue is seeking original research or reviews to address recent advances in biomarkers for pancreatic cancer detection and prognosis.

Keywords: Biomarkers, genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, glycomics, metagenomics, diagnosis, prognosis
