On June 12, 2025, Open Exploration's collaborative partner—ARES System, a user-friendly manuscript management and peer review platform—officially released the ARES System Development Report. This report comprehensively reviews and summarizes the platform's key achievements since its official launch in 2021.
The report's core highlights are reflected in multiple key metrics:
● Significant Expansion of Reviewer Network: Global reviewer registrations (spanning over 100 countries) exceeded 5,700, from 644 in 2022 to 2609 in 2024, marking a 305% increase, forming a broader and more diverse international reviewer resource pool.
● Substantially Improved Processing Efficiency: Manuscripts processed by the ARES System surpassed 1,600, from 166 in 2022 to 820 in 2024, marking a 394% increase, fully validating its capability to handle large-scale submissions.
● Dual Excellence in Review Speed and Quality: Through two-way matching for peer review, ARES System maintained efficient and high-quality peer review, with an average of 3.25 days for invitation responses and 6.21 days for review report submission, alongside average scores of 4.59/5 for review speed and 4.32/5 for overall review quality.
● Points Reward Program: Reviewers using ARES System can earn points through multiple channels. These points are redeemable for cash (1 point = 1 USD). As of March 18, 2025, 28 reviewers had met the redemption criteria.
These data powerfully demonstrate ARES' outstanding effectiveness in three core objectives: simplifying scholarly publishing workflows; systematically enhancing academic publishing quality and efficiency; and comprehensively optimizing user experiences.
As ARES' collaborative partner, Open Exploration has fully witnessed and deeply participated in its growth and evolution. Going forward, Open Exploration will continue to collaborate with ARES to promote more efficient, higher-quality, and more dynamic scholarly publishing.
