  • Prof. Giorgio Walter Canonica and Prof. Enrico Heffler Appointed Editors-in-Chief of Exploration of Asthma & Allergy

    With great honor, we announce that Prof. Giorgio Walter Canonica and Prof. Enrico Heffler have been officially appointed as the Editors-in-Chief of Exploration of Asthma & Allergy (EAA), a three-year post that takes effect in April 2022.


    GWC.pngProf. Canonica, graduated at Medical University of Genoa and since 2017 to present, he serves as Full Professor of Humanitas University and he conducted clinical immunology and allergology research at Biomedicum-Uppsala University and MUSC-Medical University of South Carolina. Prof. Canonica has H-index of 119 and published peer-reviewed papers over 900, he specialized in Asthma & Allergy, which including but not limited to Mechanisms & Treatments, including Pharmacological treatments, Biologics and Allergen ImmunoTherapy in the context of Precision & Personalized Medicine.     “I accepted to be Editor-in-Chief of Exploration of Asthma and Allergy with enthusiasm for several reasons:

    - although quite a few journals in the field are publishing papers of interest I realized a new initiative, as Exploration, could be leading innovation in terms of basic and clinical science integration, application of new technologies to clinical research and data analysis, proposal of new visions derived from original data.

    - nowadays a multidisciplinary approach and integration of knowledge is, and it will further become, crucial in a fruitful management of our patients: we will focus on

    - integration of Evidence Based Medicine with Real World data will indicate how best evaluate and outline clinical and therapeutic approaches.

    The intent is to Explore, at our best, to provide scientific support to a better life of our patients.”

    Prof. Heffler, an Allergist and Clinical Immunologist, he completed his under- and post-graduate studies, including the PhD, at University of Torino (Italy), worked for a period as territorial allergist and later on as Assistant Professor in Respiratory Diseases at University of Catania (Italy) and subsequently at Humanitas University (Milan, Italy). Since 2020 Prof. Heffler has been appointed as Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at Humanitas University, and since 2021 also as Director of the Postgraduate School of Allergy and Clinical Immunology in the same university.
